The Courage to Pivot
Genaro Perez was carjacked.
He shared, in our latest Podcast episode, how resilience and perspective can grow from challenges and even trauma. Genaro emphasized that adaptability is essential for leaders.
Maybe you haven’t experienced something personally traumatic, but you’re no stranger to challenge.
“We all think we know our path,” Genaro said, “but there’s always a curveball.”
Opportunities can emerge in unexpected ways. The key is being open and courageous enough to pivot—especially when it’s uncomfortable.
Practical strategies to build resilience and adaptability:
- Reframe challenges as lessons. When setbacks hit, ask: “What is this teaching me?” Obstacles then lead to growth.
- Stay flexible with the “how.” Keep your purpose steady, but adjust your methods. Same destination, different routes.
- Practice recovery, not perfection. Resilience isn’t about never falling—it’s about how you recover. Reflect, reset, and re-engage.
- Model adaptability for your team. Your sense of calm and open communication tells others “it’s going to be ok.” And they will follow.
